Has anyone every used the Medela Nursing Bras? Do they run small or big or are they true to size. I am currently a 36 DD and 36 DDD in some bras. I am unsure what size to order. Thanks in advance. |
| Its better you purchase one is store I made a mistake or ordering bras online and they ended up not fitting properly If your talking about Medelas sleep bra they also sell them at Motherhood Maternity and for half the price they are great! |
How come Victoria's Secret doesn't make nursing bras? Personally, I only buy V.S. bras because they are high quality (in cheap ones the elastic is streched out and starts to come apart within months) I find that its worth the money to invest in a good bra like V.S.
So anyways, why don't they make nursing bras? I mean they do specialize in bras and panties. The only brands that make quality nursing bras are medela and motherhood. So why can't they?
Because breastfeeding isn't sexy?
Don't they know that models get pregnant too? |
| Because VS is trying to project an image of undiluted sexuality, and nursing a baby is not considered sexy by the general public. Their profits and image are more important than the actual needs of their customers. :) |
? about nursing bras and pumps? ? about best nursing bras and breast pumps?
I am 33 wks preg with first guy and looking for moms opinions on breast pumps and nursing bras.
I am large chested (36/DDD/E) and for public prefer an underwire any suggestings on great comfortable nursing bras?
also I am looking at getting a medela pump in style advanced so i can continue to breast feed once I return to work. Does anyone use this pump or have any suggestions on breast pumps?
any and ALL feedback welcome thank you all |
wow, we are a lot alike. I am also a 36ddd and I had to get some bras off line because I couldn't find a maternity bra that would fit. I believe I went to amazon and did a search there, I was nervous buying a bra off line because you know bras and stuff like that is one of those things you have to try on, especially if you are the size we are.. the ones I got off line were an under-wire push up, didnt think maternity bras could be sexy but I found some!!
also on the pump.. I am not sure if the one I have is an "in style advance" or not but it is a medela. it was a double pump, electric. and I loved it. I could get a bigger part to fit my nipple for maximum suction and etc. everything I needed I found a target.
I am actually looking to sell it because my daughter is now on formula, couldn'tnt keep up my supply with the antibiotics I was on |

The only advice I can give you is to RENT a pump from your hospital first! Unless you have prior experience nursing, you *may* not be able to. I made the mistake of buying a Pump-In-Style from Babies R Us ($350) and later found out I wasn't able to breastfeed. :( Once you walk out of the store with it (even if you get to the parking lot, decide you don't want it, and walk right back in the store) it's yours...no returns, no ifs ands or buts.
My hospital will rent them to you (nice, heavy duty commercial grade pumps). They'll give you the tubing and phalanges (brand new). I think they charged something like $5 per week to rent it. You're not supposed to pump the first two weeks after giving birth, as it could mess up your milk supply and cause it not to fully come in (a baby nurses COMPLETELY differently than a breast pump pumps. :)
I've heard the Medela pump in style is the best on the market. |

Yay for breastfeeding!!! It is such a rewarding experience and you will love it!
Be careful with those underwires. They can stop the flow of milk under the wire under your skin and can cause mastitis. :/ I used sports bras/tanks a lot or tank tops that have the built in bra...not sure if the second would work for your large ones!!! But a sports bra might help you.
I used a Playtex pump when I went back to work. It was the larger one that comes with the inconspicuous bag (loved it!). The whole system for storage they have is great along with the Drop-Ins for quick and easy feeding. Loved it. I am pregnant with #2 and plan to do the same thing again.
Best of luck and congrats!!! |
Breastfeeding and nursing bras, please help!? i'm not sure what size nursing bras to order. i want to have a couple when the baby is born and then i'll have to go from there, but is there a general rule of thumb when it comes to figuring out what size you'll need? i think i've heard to go up one cup size. also, since i have to order online because of my larger size, do you think these 2 will be OK for starting out? i plan on using the medela for night time and the underwire for day. thanks for your answers.

| The problem is you have no idea what size you need until you've had your baby, even then you need to give it a couple of weeks, if you get engorgement you can go up lots of sizes, i was a B before pregnancy, a D a week after giving birth, and settled into a C after, i bought my maternity bra's about 4 weeks after giving birth when i knew the right size (their darn expensive!). But i'll tell you its easier just not wearing one at night, just a loose fitting t-shirt makes it easy to breastfeed. |
Which Disposable Nursing bra pads is good? I will be breastfeeding my baby. Does anyone know which brand is better Medela or Lansinoh brand? Which one does not have leakage of the milk? I never buy this before. I plan to buy some to use. Thank you very much. |
| Lansinoh are what works best for me. I am one of those people who leak like CRAZY, so thank GOD for them! |
What are the shields used in the bra to collect milk while nursing? I am preparing to nurse my baby girl (due any day now), and I like the idea of using them so as not to waste any milk. A friend of mine has these "whatchamacallits" by Medela, but I have been unable to find them locally or online. I'm wondering if there are other styles/brands or anything else that serves the same purpose and if anyone has any tips on how best to use them. |
Breast SHELLS
I prefer to collect extra milk and freeze it while nursinging a Medella Harmony, you can get that for 31$ from drugstore.com
but if you dont want to freeze then I would use the shells and feed that milk to the baby via a dropper or small cup (carefully) so it doesnt go to waste. also works good in the eyes for blocked tear ducts (massage as well) and in the nose instead of saline, or on cuts, or diaper rash!! |
Nursing bra help.please!petite moms!? no one has a nursing bra in my size.i feel awful and embarrased that i walk into a store and get the rudest looks and comments when asking for a certain size! im wasting time driving around as well as searching online only to be told my size doesnt exist.... in the nursing world..... what can i do? no one has a 34A ! i tried medela.motherhood mat. pea in a pod. destination maternirty. |
Can you comfortably wear a 32 band size?
If you can you'd be a 32 B which is a LOT easier to find. Also be prepared to try bras a size larger in the cup than you think you are in your regular size, some brands have different sizing and you might be a larger cup size in them. A GOOD salesperson will make you try on the bra and visually check you over for fit before selling it to you.
A lot of women get sized incorrectly and are wearing a band size larger than what they should be- when I got resized for a new bra after the birth of my son I was told that while the size I was wearing was TECHNICALLY correct according to the tape measure system of sizing, the FIT was NOT correct. Explains why even though I had always been sized before buying a new bra I had never had a comfortable bra for more than a week after purchase!
I ended up having to go down FOUR band sizes to be comfortable, and for every band size you go down you go UP a cup size. In the size I had been wearing after a couple of washes the band was not fitting correctly. |
Saving on nursing pads? I'm a housewife and planning to breastfeed my 6month-old son until he reaches one year old of age. In order to keep my clothes dry and fresh, I have to wear nursing bra and pads underneath it almost 24/7. I don't feel comfortable to wear bra at night at all. Besides, nursing pads price is a little pricie (i use Medela 60ct/$9.99), and they only last for 2weeks. Do you have any idea or other method to prevent leaking and not wearing bra and pads all day to save money on that?
Thank you so very much for answering my question. |

I used reuseables some of the time but a six pack doesn't last very long. You have to buy a lot of them or you'll end up washing them every day and running out. I found them to be a bit of a pain in the neck. I used the Lansinoh disposables most of the time www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp… and sometimes I'd find a great deal on them or some coupons, which helped some. You could also try buying in bulk at a store like Costco or Sams Club. They also make a reusable breast pad that covers your breast and prevents leakage instead of absorbing it. It's caller Lili Padz and is designed for wearing with a bathing suit or strapless dress (with no bra) or something like that. www.amazon.com/Lily-Padz-Lilypadz… They are a little pricey but you can reuse them for a long time and they work really well. Sorry I can't be of more help.
I was about to include a link to free samples for breast pads but they were out. However the link led me to this site which has some great free samples on it. Enjoy! www.mysavings.com/free-product-sa… |
